Call for Production Teams for 2018 Season

GSOV 2018

GILBERT & SULLIVAN OPERA VICTORIA invites applications for Production Teams for the following 2018 Season:
  • MIKADO - July

  • Gilbert & Sullivan’s farcical comic operetta, The Mikado, delights audiences with its witty libretto and beautiful score. Originally set in a courtyard in a Japanese town, the show pokes fun at British bureaucracy and social hierarchies of the Victorian era. For this show we are specifically looking for a Director who is able to let the original humour shine without being culturally insensitive. We invite discussion on a modern creative approach. The Mikado will be produced as a fully staged production at Darebin Arts Centre for a strictly limited season of 5 shows from 19th to 22nd of July 2018.

  • EILEEN - October

  • An exciting early 20th Century operetta from a prodigious maestro, whom many critics cite as the premiere composer of early Broadway, Eileen is Victor Herbert's grand Irish ode to his maternal homeland. GSOV will be producing a fully staged limited season of 4 shows utilizing a boutique instrumental ensemble in either late October or early November (theatre dates TBC).

Examples of the music from Eileen can be found via this link.

GSOV will be utilizing an updated libretto and musical arrangement courtesy of New York based organization, VHRP Live. Copy of libretto available on request.

Applications are now open for Directors and Musical Directors for our 2018 Season. We are seeking energetic, enthused and engaged creative teams to lead our productions.

We welcome those applying to also detail any digital, promotion and marketing experience they feel might be useful or relevant to assist in ensuring a successful season.
