Season: 2016

In 2016, after a packed season of events to commemorate our 80th Anniversary, Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria will return to a more traditional year of productions and social events.

Calendar of events:

*February 29: A social event to celebrate Frederick’s birthday.
With 2016 being a leap year, it is an ideal opportunity to celebrate the birthday of one of our favourite characters from The Pirates of Penzance.

*April 21-23: The Gondoliers
Directed by Adrian Glaubert, Musical Direction by Timothy Wilson, and with choreography by Sarah Cossey, roll up to this vibrant new production at the Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre, Preston.

*July:23rd-24th Chu Chin Chow in GEELONG at GPAC Drama Theatre
*July:28th-31st Chu Chin Chow in MELBOURNE at Phoenix Theatre, Elwood
Directed for GSOV by Robert Ray, Chu Chin Chow was origianlly written, produced and directed by Oscar Asche, and will be presented as a special 100th anniversary performance in the composer’s home town, Geelong. The script has recently been modified and updated by Melvyn Morrow.

*October 2nd: Gala Concert – a "Gilbert & Sullivan Spectacular”
With music directed by John Ferguson, Head of Music at Scotch College, Hawthorn, come along to Ian Roach Hall, Scotch College, to witness a classical G&S programme performed by some of the GSOV finest celebrity performers from the past and present. Apart from many popular G&S favourites, it is proposed to present excerpts from Gilbert & Sullivan’s lesser performed Utopia Limited, featuring the famous unaccompanied chorus “Eagle High”.

*November 26th and 27th: Chu Chin Chow Return Season”
A second chance to see this spectacular show - performed at Malvern Theatre

*December: Family BBQ and Christmas Party
The best way to close out the year in the traditional manner.
