Bruce Doery died in November 2007, and was a treasured and honoured Life Member of the Society. He left a bequest to the Society and an extensive collection of Gilbert and Sullivan scores, books and other memorabilia. The Committee of Management decided that there could be no better way of perpetuating Bruce’s love for G & S, and his enthusiasm for the encouragement of young performers, than by establishing an annual scholarship award in his memory. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to a young singer of no more than 32 years of age who has contributed to the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Victoria. It is to be awarded for the third time in 2012.
The amount available is to be decided by the Committee of Management at the beginning of each year and this may be awarded to one applicant or divided among one or more.
Congratulations to our 2013 recipients Stephanie Dingnis and Janneke Ferwerda
