HMS Pinafore
Travelling down to Portsmouth we ask: Can love really level the class system? The Captain of the Pinafore has hopes that his daughter Josephine will marry the First Lord of the Admiralty - but complications set in when she reveals she is in love with a lowly sailor. Gilbert and Sullivan's evergreen comedy is given a fresh new production.
Cox and Box
This season also sees the welcome return of Sullivan's delightful comedy Cox and Box in a brand new performing edition which includes music rarely performed. Now we are in a seedy boarding house in Bloomsbury. An unscrupulous landlord rents the same room to two unknowing tenants - one who works during the day and the other at night. But an unexpected holiday occurs... This is a classic double bill in the great Savoy tradition.
Cox and Box directed by Robert Ray
